Clothing Your Child Well
September 28, 2007 – 9:00 amA well-dressed child is a sweeter ‘apple of the eye’ for parents and everyone else. While colorful patterns and attractive designs are part of a good dress for your child, some other factors also need to be considered when selecting clothing for your kid. Following are some important things to consider.
• Select durable clothing preferably made of sturdy woven or knit fabrics like denim. Clothing with reinforced seams and knees have a longer life. Also, pick adjustable straps so as to allow some room for growth.
• Select clothing that doesn’t constrict motion.
• Choose fabrics that allow the air and moisture to pass through, cotton fabrics for example. This prevents irritation of the skin.
• Clothing should be easy to wash and dry. Fabrics made of cotton mixed with small amounts of synthetic fabric (polyester) are so far the best choice because such clothing does not shrink and develop wrinkles on laundering.
