Baby Safety Gates

without comments

Baby safety gates can help parents to protect their toddler or baby from experiencing falls and other accidents by barricading off a certain area within your home. Today, there are several different styles and types of baby safety gates that are available that will fit doorways and stairs and there are even some that can be left freestanding right in the center of a room. Below, you will find a couple of things that you should take into consideration before you purchase a baby gate.

Purchase a Brand New or Almost New Baby Gate

The older baby gates that are of the accordion style, which has spaces that are v-shaped right at the very top, have been recalled by the manufacturer due to the fact they can easily trap babies. There are other older styles of baby gates that can also have hazards, like providing easy toe hold for a baby that is industrious to climb up on and fall. Purchasing a new baby safety gate or a baby safety gate that is at least in fairly good condition that was manufactured within the past five years or sooner, is going to be your safer and best bet.

Baby Gates That Are Pressure Mounted

Out of all the different baby safety gates, the one that is most commonly used is the pressure mounted baby safety gate. With this type of baby gate, you can open the baby safety gate wide enough so that it can fit into a doorway, then you can lock it so that all of the rubbery pieces that are located on the sides press up against the wall or door frame. This particular type of baby gate can be easily portable and inexpensive. Normally, you will have to remove and then replace this style of baby safety gate or either step on over it if there is an adult that wants to pass on through, and there also is a lot more potential in this situation, that a baby of a heavier build could possibly push the gate right out of its place because it isn’t going to be bolted into anything.

Baby Gates That Are Hardware Mounted

The baby gates that are normally attached to a door or wall frame with a couple of screws are becoming more and more popular. However, there is one downside to this particular style of baby gates and that is that you are going to have to permanently mark your door or wall frame with the baby gate hardware. Although, the main benefit present is that there is very little chance that the gate is going to be able to push out of place, it doesn’t matter how many tricks your little one may learn. However, you should know that these types of gates aren’t portable.
